We feel the following options may be most relevant and pertinent to the roles of professionals in youth organisations and charities – this may include youth clubs, outreach, 1:1 support and mentoring for example. As well as presenting theory, training content offers “how to help” sections after each focus topic and scenario activities which we create with you to make them relevant to your setting. Please note, content in the following trainings are tailored to direct support.
Understanding Autism (L1)
This training presents what autism is, expanding on topics of flexibility of thought and processing, social communication and sensory experiences. We examine common challenges, unique differences and inherent strengths within autism. Gain valuable insights and equip yourself with targeted, practical approaches to effectively support, understand and connect with autistic individuals.
Understanding Autism and supporting behaviour (L1):
In addition to our “Understanding autism L1” content, challenge perspectives on behaviour of concern and explore functions of behaviour to inform proactive planning aimed at reducing anxiety and triggers. Consider routines, resources and acquire differentiated strategies for supporting individuals at different stages of arousal.
Understanding autism + add on modules/ bespoke topics
This training option offers the flexibility to customise some of our content to your needs as an organisation or incorporate additional modules. Following a consultation, we can build on key information to ensure we can provide you with valuable insight, skills and strategies directly applicable to your setting. Autism and Neurodiversity in the workplace
This training will capacity build employers, managers and colleagues to understand potential challenges encountered by autistic people in the workplace and how to offer appropriate, meaningful support. Explore strengths associated with autism, how to celebrate and utilise them in your setting. Reflect on your current environment, processes and resources to consider approaches to increase accessibility and cultivate a neuroinclusive work environment.

This training is a more comprehensive version of our Understanding autism L1 training (rather than L2 to follow the L1) allowing for further detail, examples and activities throughout the session.

We have training material designed for people who are blind and partially sighted, with high contrast resources and ATL described images. This is available upon request. All of our online training can also be facilitated with closed captions.
